Start-Up Visa Program

The Start Up Visa Program is for entrepreneurs who want to establish a new business in Canada.

Start Up Visa was launched through Ministerial Instructions. April 2013.

The Start Up Visa became permanent in August 2017. Through this program the Government of Canada is supposed to present its commitment to attracting innovation, investment and global skills.

Who Can Apply

Basic Premise:
1. An Innovative idea of an entrepreneur that can be implemented in Canada and is globally scalable.
2. Need a “Designated Organisation” (DO) A public partner in the form of either:
A) Venture Capital Firm
B) Angel Investor
C) Incubator

Educational Requirements:
Grade 12 or equivalent in the home country

Business Background:
Any business background or professional occupation leading to the implementation of an innovative idea

Language Requirements:
Have language ability at CLB 5 in either of Canada’s official language

Financial Capability:
A) To implement the concept and project
B) Meet the LICO requirements for WP & PR
